Rift Valley Hawks check Nairobi Falcons
Rift Valley Hawks beat Nairobi Falcons by 15 runs to win their fourth match of the National Junior Girls Championships at Greensteads International School, Nakuru on Thursday.
The second match pitting Rift Valley and Coast Eaglets was rained off with only five overs bowled.
In the first match of the day, Rift Valley were aided by Daisy Wairimu and Quinta Aoko who made 12 runs each which took their team to 85 for 7 after winning the toss.
Jackline Atieno and Jackline Adhiambo picked three wickets each to finish with 3 for 12 and 3 for 14 respectively.
Esther Wangare got the other wicket for Nairobi.
Nairobi who were set  86 to win, finished on 70 with Hannah Ngina  top-scoring with 19 and wicket keeper Amy Mukirema adding on 10.
Rift Valley’s slow arm bowler Samira Hassan took three wickets with Faith Mwende, Mako Wako and Susan Wangare picking up two wickets each. Wairimu picked up one wicket.
Triza Nduku and Nina Anyango had put on a seventh wicket stand which pushed the scores to 64 after Wangare had bowled Ngina with scores on 38.
Victory meant Rift Valley is only separated by two points from leaders Nairobi with last round of matches remaining.
