Patel dominant in Tigers win

Rakep Patel scored a flawless 94 runs to help Kanbis Tigers defeat Kongonis by 7 wickets in a hotly contested opening encounter between the two Nairobi based sides.

Patel got off the mark immediately the innings commenced and batted aggressively in the beginning to set the tone for the match. He plundered 13 boundaries and 3 sixes in the process and was involved in a second wicket partnership of 63 runs that swung the game the way of the Tigers.

Earlier on Alex Obanda’s breathtaking 86 had powered the home side to 153 off their 20 overs, Obanda’s cameo inning included 7 sixes and 6 fours as he threatened to take the game away from the Tigers almost single handedly. He found support in national team skipper Collins Obuya who contributed 30 but his departure brought in Maninder Singh who failed to capitalize on the great start that Kongonis hard built, going at less than a run a-ball for his 33-ball 20.

In Mombasa Morris Ouma’s 100 not out helped Coast Pekee defeat Rift Valley Rhinos by 65 runs to get the Coastal side off to a great start in the tournament. His century came from 65 balls with 8 fours and 6 sixes.

In Kampala Warriors defeated Knights by 4 wickets. Knights scored 144 and Warriors surpassed that total with 2 balls to spare.
