Kenya prevail in battle for ninth spot

Kenya ensured they finished the ICC World Cup Twenty20 on a high by registering a 38-run win over Italy at the Global Cricket Academy in Dubai.

Batting first Kenya got off to a flyer with Alex Obanda making a brisk 18-ball 25 supported by Duncan Allan they were separated with the score on 41 from just 4.1 overs as Obanda perished off the bowling of Peter Petricola.

Morris Ouma then joined the party notching up 51 off 46 deliveries followed by Collins Obuya who gave the innings a real boost raking up 41 off just 29 balls to help Kenya to 170 from their overs allotment.

Italy lost two early wickets in their chase as the Kenyans tightened their bowling after an unforgettable day in the field against Nepal.

Returning bowler Hiren Varaiya claimed 4-25 from 3.3 overs and was named man of the match while Shem Ngoche’s 3 for 32 from 4 overs ensured the Italians finished below the Africans in the log.
