Kenya bounce back with thumping win over Oman

Chasing their first win in the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier, Kenya registered a resounding victory over Oman at the Global Cricket Academy in Dubai.

Kenya who had lost its opening two encounters arrested that form by dispatching Oman with ease thanks largely to an opening stand of 105 between Alex Obanda 52 and Duncan Allan 51 inside 13 overs. Obanda the dominant of the pair registered his 52 from a mere 38 balls helping himself to seven boundaries and a six, while Allan supported him well with a 50-ball innings which included five fours and a six.

Rakep Patel later contributed a handsome 16-ball 33 to help Kenya to 176 off its 20 overs. He hit fours sixes and a four in the process and remained unbeaten while partnering with Ragheb Aga and Morris Ouma to spur on the team.

Oman were never in the match after that and kept losing wickets regularly ending up at 141 to hand Kenya a 35-run win. Kenya face Italy in their next encounter.
