Mombasa Sports Club bags all trophies

Mombasa Sports Club once again emerged triumphant at the just concluded CCA six aside tournament played over the last two weekends. For the third year running MSC has managed to clinch the CCA’s curtain raiser for the season and this year was no exception.

It was a well attended tournament, with a total of sixteen teams registering. MSC, Coast Gymkhana and Cutchi Leva all raised three teams each.

The first weekend saw a total of 12 teams get knocked out including Jaffery Sports club, Burhani Sports, Simba union, Malindi Sports Club and new comers Mombasa Heat.

A spirited performance by Cutchi Leva where two of their teams reached the semi finals along with MSC and CGSC.

However the day belonged to MSC Knights , captainedd by the experienced Zahirabbas Khaku who saw his team beat finalist Cutchi Tigers in a low scoring game.

In the final match, Cutchi Tigers batted first scoring only 27 runs in the allocated 5 overs. MSC Knights completed the chase with 2 overs to spare.

Apart from winning the overall event, MSC Knights also bagged the highest wicket taker SAGAR KARIA and the highest scorer RAJIV SUTHARIA

During the trophy presentation, vice-chairman of CCA Mr. Subash Devani and his team thanked all participants and congratulated the winners of the event. He also mentioned that this year the focus of the cricket governing bodies will be towards development of youth programs as budgets have been allocated and he looks towards the clubs and their senior player for their support.

Next in the cricketing calendar is the international fixture between Kenya and Ireland, who will be playing a series of ODIs , T20s and an I-Cup match between the 12th - 24th of February. All matches are to be played at Mombasa Sports Club. The CCA 40th overleague will be starting thereafter on 26th February.
