Peter Ongondo Joins CK Coaching Staff

Former international pace bowler Peter Ongondo has joined Cricket Kenya’s coaching staff in a new role as an elite level coach.

The 34-year-old who played 79 one day internationals for Kenya and was once ranked in the World’s top 20 bowlers will be based in Nakuru and will be looking to introduce new players to the game under CK’s comprehensive Development Programme and work with those players who show the promise to play at representative level.

Chief Executive Tom Sears said: ‘We are delighted Peter has joined our coaching team and believe he has a lot to offer. His role will be to work with our Development Programme and play a leading role in identifying young players with the potential to play at a higher level and ensure they fulfil that potential through specialist coaching programmes and regular competition.

‘Our development programme across the country is all about creating opportunities for youngsters to play and ensuring they have a structure that allows them to compete and progress all the way through to our national teams.

‘Peter’s appointment is part of our continued commitment to utilise the experience and knowledge of former players who demonstrate the ambition and qualities we are looking for and we expect to expand our coaching staff further in the coming months.’
