Arya Boys and Cutchi Leva make national schools finals

Arya Boys Secondary and Shree Cutchi Leva Patel Samaj School qualified for the National Boys Secondary Schools finals scheduled for Simba Union Club in Nairobi tomorrow afternoon after winning both their semi-final matches.

Nairobi champions Arya negotiated their way to the final by outpointing Oshwal Academy from Mombasa in the first semi-finals. The visitors claimed the toss and chose to field but allowed the Ngara-based outfit far too many runs as they set a target of 214 for the loss of only 2 wickets.

Upcoming youngster Gurdeep Singh notched 107 which included 15 fours and a six. He shared an opening stand of 73 with Dhiren Gondaria before going on to bring his century off 77 balls. Divyesh Patel was the pick of the bowlers for Arya with 3/27.

Arya will meet arch-rivals Cutchi Leva in the afternoon final after they thrashed Nakuru Day Secondary by 184 runs. They posted 238 for 6 from 30 overs before bowling out their opponents for 54 inside 16 overs. Man of the match Yogesh Kabaria doing most of the damage with 3 for 16 off his 6 overs following his cameo with the bat contributing 52 from a mere 39 balls including 5 fours and 2 sixes.

Nakuru Day and Oshwal Academy meet in the morning for the 3rd place play-off before the grand final.
