Kenya XI and Andhra tie the fourth one-day match

Kenya XI and Andhra Pradesh played out a thrilling and unexpected tie in the fourth one-day match played at the Y.S.R. ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam, India.

Kenya did claim the toss and opted to field and all seemed to have gone to plan when Elijah Otieno’s 4-42 off his 10 overs looked to have put paid to Andhra ‘s hopes of posting a defendable total on the board. Andhra folded up in 44.4 overs for 177. Sankara Rao (46) and V. Lenin (31) contributing to their course.

However, Andhra turned the screw on their visitors to also dismiss them for a similar score off the final ball of the innings with a single needed to win the encounter. Bowling hero turned batting villain when Otieno was cleaned out by GVS Prasad for 5 leaving the settled Hiren Varaiya stranded on 17.

The pick of the bowlers was Sneha Kishore who returned 4-24 from 10 overs to deny the East Africans a second victory in the one-day series. Collins Obuya was Kenya’s top scorer with 53. He shared a 63-run second wicket partnership with Duncan Allan (24), before he was joined by Tanmay Mishra who contributed (21). They were the only batsmen to cross the 20-run mark for Kenya.
