Andhra Pradesh XI squeeze past Kenya XI

Andhra Pradesh XI fought back brilliantly after being 68 for 3 to overhaul Kenya XI’s seemingly big total  of 276 on the first tour match at the VDCA Stadium, in Visakhapatnam, India, by a narrow two-wicket margin.

The win was set up by Jyothi Sai Krishna and Vamsi Krishna who put together a 106-run partnership to pull Andhra out of trouble, when the Kenyans had seemed to seize control of the match after some good work by Alfred Luseno who accounted for Bharath (39) and Charanjeevi (1) at the top of the order.

However, the home side did not let that deter them but instead rallied from a difficult position to win an important opener and go one up in the series.

Earlier on, half centuries from Duncan Allan (88) and Tanmay Mishra (69) had threatened to help Kenya build a huge total but they failed to capitalize from a strong position of 203 for 4 in 37.3 overs to end up on 276 for 9 from 50.  73 runs were scored from the final 12.3 overs.
