Namibia claim Kenya scalp twice on the opening day

Match 1:  WHS Oval Windhoek

The morning match in the bi-lateral series between Kenya XI and the Namibian XI started without any delays in a cloudy Windhoek. Captain Sarel Burger(Namibia) and Irfan Karim (Kenya) tossed the required 30 minutes before the scheduled start. Burger won the toss and elected to bat on a flat and good wicket.

Namibia were restricted to a very conservative 141 for the loss of 9 wickets. Only Sarel burger showed any resolve in the Namibian batting with a fine 56 off 67 balls. Gerrie Snyman (23) and Raymond van Schoor (21)  chipped in, to set the moderate total. Odhiambo, Oteino and Varaiya all managed to get two wickets apiece.

With a bit of drizzle about, the Kenyan team began the run chase. They never managed to get any consistency in the batting and were soon at 64 for 5. This never really helped their cause and they were contained to a small total of 115 for 9 in their 20 overs. Irfan Karin managed to get 40 off 59 balls. Left arm orthodox spinner LP van der Westhuizen returned figures of 3 for 11 in his  3 overs.

Namibia won by 26 runs.
