School children turned up in their numbers from all walks of life to watch the first live telecast match in Kenya, in the ongoing East African cricket competitions (EACC) twenty20 match between Cricket Tours Africa Nairobi Buffaloes against Kongonis at the Nairobi Gymkhana grounds on Saturday afternoon.
There were a total of 443 children from 18 schools present at the venue drawn from both primary and secondary schools within the development program in Nairobi province
The children had a fun day out at the Gymkhana ground on Saturday, it is however difficult to keep the children attentive for a prolonged period just watching and cheering a cricket match and it wasn’t different on this day.
It tested their resolve and that goes to explain why so many of them found themselves in at the Gymkhana play parks, either on the swings, playing a mini-cricket game amongst themselves on the side or just moving around the ground from one stand to another.
They initially commenced their support on a low note when they neither cheered a side and when asked, a few of them stated that they needed to identify with a team and that they were still figuring out which side they should go with.
During the past Kenya games they managed to pick out the Kenyans and identify with them as they looked significantly different from their opponents but on this occasion both teams apart from their uniforms that distinguished them from their counterparts they looked every part the same.
Eventually, they got their act together and supported largely Nairobi Buffaloes and cheered every run scored at a certain stage not to mention sections of them going with all that happened be it in favour of the Cricket Tours Africa sponsored outfit or not.
