UAE overcome Kenya in I-Cup encounter

United Arab Emirates completed their turnaround when they out played Kenya in the second innings of the International Cricket Council Intercontinental Cup winning by a commanding 266 runs at the Nairobi Gymkhana Club yesterday.

Kenya’s consolation in the encounter was the fact that they picked up 6 points for their first innings lead. The run-chase was compounded for Kenya by the injury to Rajesh Bhudiya whom Kenya owe so much for their first innings lead when he scored a quick-fire 44 off 40 deliveries assist the hosts surpass UAE’s first innings total.

UAE managed to bowl Kenya out for 167 in their second innings to register a comprehensive Nairobi and complete their turnaround. Kenya began the day on 76 for 4 needing 358 for victory but that was never a realistic.

Skipper Collins Obuya made a determined 63 but he received very little support, with only Ramesh Mepani offering any assistance, managing 37 runs succumbing to a run out.
